- Review:
- Comments: Raboso is an obscure varietal from the Piave area in the Veneto region of northeast Italy. Our first introduction to this varietal comes from this small producer out of Mendoza and it’s a worthy consideration for those who want high quality and esoteric without a hefty price tag. Earthy, spicy, dusty, darker red fruits, reminding of plums and cherry, think of Sangiovese and Tempranillo, are edged nicely with some well integrated oak that adds some nice mocha tones to the dark plum flavors. Medium bodied with finer tannin structure and good acidity, this has a nice hint of mocha on the dry finish as well from the well judged French and American oak influence. This should drink really nice over the next 4-5 years.
